Dr. Richard Bowles
Growing up in North Knoxville, Dr. Richard Bowles graduated from Central High School before continuing his education at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. After completing his undergraduate studies, he moved to Memphis, TN, in order to attend UTs College of Dentistry and received his D.D.S. degree in 1965. Following his marriage to Sharon, a dental hygienist, and a year of public health dental work in Arkansas, he returned to the University of Tennessee, Memphis campus to specialize in orthodontics. There he completed a graduate orthodontics residency under the guidance of the highly esteemed orthodontist, Faustin N. Weber and earned his Master of Science in Orthodontics degree.

Returning to Knoxville, Dr. Bowles began his practice in the downtown area and soon added an office in Maryville, employing his wife and truly making it a friendly, family business. More than thirty years later, this family atmosphere continues as he now works in partnership with his son Dr. Ryan Bowles and they continue to treat their patients with care and compassion. Dr. Bowles is also extremely proud of his son Matt, who lives with his wife Amy in Knoxville and is a youth minister at Centerpoint Presbyterian Church.

Dr. Ryan Bowles
A native Knoxvillian, Dr. Ryan Bowles attended the Sequoyah area schools before moving and graduating from Farragut High School in 1994. He then furthered his education, achieving a B.S. in Predentistry from UT, Knoxville. Following this, he and his wife Glenda, attended Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, an experience that greatly shaped their outlook on the role of healthcare both in daily practice and to the disadvantaged at home and abroad. Moving to Memphis, TN, he attended the University of Tennessee Health Science Center for seven years, earning both his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and later a Master of Dental Science degree during his three year orthodontic residency.

Grateful to be back in the promised land of East Tennessee, Dr. Bowles enjoys practicing with his father and working together to ensure the best quality treatment that they can provide. He remains active in overseas work, thankful for the opportunities he has had with his education and believing that to whom much is given, much is required. He also has three wonderful kids, Amber, Daniel, and Rachel who bring him much joy and pleasure.

Dr. Owens and his familyDr. Mark Owens

Growing up in West Tennessee, Dr. Mark Owens graduated from White Station High School in Memphis, TN before moving to Murfreesboro, TN to earn his predental degree from Middle Tennessee State University. While in Murfreesboro, he met and married the love of his life, Kristy. Following graduation from MTSU and marriage, they moved to Memphis in order to attend the University of Tennessee, College of Dentistry to complete his D.D.S. degree in 2005. One week after their first son was born, they moved back to middle Tennessee where he worked as a general dentist in Shelbyville. After three years of private practice, they decided to return to the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis to specialize in orthodontics and earn a Master of Dental Science degree following a three year orthodontic residency.

The Owens' family now has two boys, Mark and Luke, and they are expecting their third child. They are excited to be living in east Tennessee and having the Great Smoky Mountains as their backyard. Dr. Mark is looking forward practicing orthodontics with Dr. Bowles and is committed to providing the highest quality orthodontic care and service for all of his patients. Dr. Mark's interests include spending time with his family, coaching and supporting youth athletics, and most outdoor activities, particularly trout fishing in the Smoky Mountains.
